St Robert Southwell

St Robert Southwell was a Martyr of England. He was born in Norfolk and entered the Jesuits in Rome.  Robert, an ordained priest, worked as a missionary in London. Arrested, he remained in jail for three years before being martyred at Tyburn in 1595 . He is one of the Forty Martyrs of England and Wales, canonized in 1970.

The feast of St Robert Southwell is celebrated on 21st February.
