At St Robert Southwell, Learning is central to all we do and is our core purpose. We approach learning in exciting, enriching and creative ways, in order to engage, inspire and enthuse our children.
We believe the curriculum should be relevant to children’s life experiences; should inspire and engage them in their learning, while enabling them to work collaboratively using their imaginations. The aim of our curriculum is for pupils to have requisite skills to be successful, independent and motivated learners, in readiness for their next stage of education.
In September 2016 we launched our ‘Creative Curriculum’ which is planned around the development of knowledge, skills and understanding using content from the National Curriculum, under broad and engaging themes. The purpose of our Creative Curriculum is to ignite curiosity, nurture fascination and imagination while developing skills, vocabulary and providing a knowledge base for our children.
Our Creative Curriculum has English at its core; links are made to ensure children are engaged, motivated and stimulated in all areas of their learning and subsequently make progress across the board.
